Our Projects

Design Lab

Launched in 2018, the Stevens Design Lab is a maker space that will become fully integrated into the Stevens Elementary School curriculum in 2018 / 2019. We’re excited to help bring the STEM Legacy of Wheat Ridge to a younger audience.

What is a maker space?

Simply put, it’s a space designed for and dedicated to hands-on creativity. In this space students will generate new ideas, solve problems and actually create real-life things. Our kids will use technology such as TinkerCad, 3-D printers, as well as good old cardboard and tape.

FIRST Lego League

FIRST Lego League

Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by adult Coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field.

Teacher Appreciation

Lifting Those Who Lift Us Up

These days, teachers are often treated as both the cause of all our problems and their solution, responsible for everything from alleviating poverty to the grades on an individual student’s report card. At Friends of Stevens we’re dedicated to filling our teacher’s cups and reminding them that we appreciate their efforts and sacrifice. After all, they are the heart and soul of our schools.
